“We had a wonderful tour to local village where we had a chance to see how traditional Kente cloth is made and how the cocoa is grown, harvested and then transformed to multiple products. Our guide was very professional, he provided us with great overview of the history of Kumasi and happily answered all my questions. He also took us for lunch/ street food we would never find ourselves. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to experience the city at its best.”
“Black Root Tours provided me with a one-on-one experience that I could never have had without them. I had about 1-1/2 days in Kumasi and we fit so much into a short time. I was immersed in the captivating history of the Ashanti kingdom and visited three sites in Kumasi (Okomfo Anokye Sword Site, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum & The Manhyia Palace Museum) that helped me understand and visualize the history and culture of the Ashanti’s. Day one was topped off with a tour through the massive Kejetia Market, which was also very interesting! On day 2 we travelled outside of Kumasi to some smaller villages where I was able to see Kente cloth being woven, another site where they make natural dye and stamp the cloth, and lastly where wood carvers are busy making various products from stools to bowls and figurines. Having a guide at your side through all this, who looks after coordinating the travel and the admission to the different sites made the whole experience so stress free and enjoyable. An impressive amount of historical and cultural knowledge was shared, and any question I had either historical or relating to current culture was well answered and explained. I could not have been more satisfied with Black Roots Tours!”
