“I went with Golden Rwanda Safaris as the agency to plan my 13 day Rwanda trip. It was an excellent experience from the start with Frank the owner being very responsive and personally answering and helping to accomodate my various requests for my customised itinerary. He was very responsive, efficient and reassuring throughout the entire process. He chose the excellent accomodations for each of the regions I was going to and I got to experience a variety of different types of lodgings from high end hotels, lakeside resorts to beautiful ecolodges in the forest, in the national parks and overlooking the plains of Akagera National park. All the lodgings were comfortable and beautiful and really allowed you to feel one with nature and truly soak in the sounds and serenity of the place. The service was excellent and the food was amazingly good. My driver and guide for this 13 day adventure was Dady and he was essential to making this such a memorable experience. He was a good, reliable and safe driver which was essential with some tough terrain and long distance. Very importantly, he was very knowledgeable about history, local customs, and wildlife and his good sense of humour and responsibility made this journey both educational and fun. He was able to advice on how best to sequence out the day's activities and advice on what to expect and look out for for each activity. He was also an excellent spotter of animals on the Akagera Safari drives and was great at explaining the various behaviours and share some fun facts about the animals we encountered. He is an excellent birder and was able to spot and identify a variety of birds quickly and accurately. My itinerary was adequately customer to have maximal encounters with wildlife with gorilla trekking being the highlight, and chimpanzee, golden monkey and colobus monkey treks as well as a slightly challenging but beautiful hike to Dian Fossey's memorial. It was well planned with a welcomed 2 days of R&R on the shores of Lake Kivu before the treks and activities at Volcanoes National park. I was also able to visit 4 different genocide memorial sites in different regions which was what I wanted to do. Each were unique in their own way and all had powerful messages to teach. I would like to thank Golden Rwanda Safaris for having made this journey such a memorable and pleasant bucket list trip!”
